Top Ten Tuesday is a book blogging prompt hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I don’t participate every week, but I join in when I find the prompt interesting. This week everyone is discussing sequels they are excited to read.
Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky #3) by Veronica Rossi
I’m actually reading this right now, so it’s kind of cheating to include it. I’m 25% in and it’s good so far! I really liked Under the Never Sky much more than I anticipated (review here) and LOVED Through the Ever Night (review here).
Diamonds and Deceit (At Somerton #2) by Leila Rasheed
Sometimes you just want a feel-good, soapy, dramatic read that is just FUN. That’s exactly what I got out of Cinders & Sapphires (review here). This is next on my ARC to-read list, as I know I’ll want some escapist fun around Thanksgiving.
Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3) by Laini Taylor
I AM DYING FOR THIS ONE. Words can simply not express my need for this book. I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone (review here) but Days of Blood and Starlight blew me away (review here). I got to meet Laini Taylor at Rainy Day Books on her last tour, and I’m hoping she comes somewhere close again!
Mortal Heart (His Fair Assassin #3) by Robin LaFevers
My need for this isn’t as all-consuming as it is for Dreams of Gods and Monsters, but I think that is more due to the partially resolved storyline and knowing it will be from a new perspective, even if Ismae and Sybella will play a large role in the story. I enjoyed Grave Mercy (review here) but felt that Dark Triumph was a much better novel (review here), and am excited to see how the trilogy ends.
Untilted, Jasper Dent #3 by Barry Lyga
I am SO MAD at Barry Lyga for that huge cliffhanger he left readers on in Game (review here) after such a well-constructed and self-contained novel in I Hunt Killers (review here). But damn if I am not DYING to find out what happens to Jazz and everyone else!
The Forever Song (Blood of Eden #3) by Julie Kawaga
Sometimes I’m not satisfied with just zombies or just vampires. I want BOTH, and The Immortal Rules (review here) and The Eternity Cure (review here) definitely delivered in that respect. I want to find out how this story ends.
Clariel (Abhorsen #4) by Garth Nix
I know I just read Sabriel (review here), but I was excited to know that after all this time, another installment was going to be published. I like to read fantasy series in a short time span if possible, so I know I’ll finish the other two in the series before this one comes out next fall. Here’s to hoping Tim Curry does the audiobook again!
Untitled and Untitled (The Raven Cycle #3 and #4) by Maggie Stiefvater
Um, yeah. I can’t wait for these. I loved The Raven Boys (review here) and The Dream Thieves (review here).
Dirty Wings (All Our Pretty Songs #2) by Sarah McCarry
I’m not sure that this needed to be a series, but I loved the writing in All Our Pretty Songs (review here) enough to pretty much guarantee that I’ll read anything Sarah McCarry writes.
The Infinite Sea (The 5th Wave #2) by Rick Yancey
I let my two best friends borrow my ARC copy of The 5th Wave (review here), and they both replied within a couple of days demanding the sequel and were upset when I told them it hadn’t been published yet. I’m pretty sure they are going to fight me for it if I get an ARC of the sequel!
I try not to get too many series going at once, which means that there are tons I haven’t started and am waiting until the entire trilogy is published before diving in, so if necessary, I can binge read. There are some series I’ve only read the first of, and even though the others are out, still haven’t gotten to, even if I do eventually want to read the rest of the story. It’s hard to prioritize reading!
I’m dying to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters as well! When I finished the last one I couldn’t believe how long we had to wait until this next one comes out!
I know! I’m listening to the audiobooks to refresh the story in my mind to get ready for the new release. They are pretty much my all time favorites.
There was so many books I was planning to comment on but all I can really thing about is: OH MY GOD, THERE IS GOING TO BE A NEW BOOK IN THE ABHORSEN SERIES! And then question how in the hell I did not know this! So excited now! =D
Great list. My TTT.
I’ve been debating reading the At Somerton series, glad to hear you like them! And The Infinite Sea, I hadn’t heard the title for it before today and now I’m trying to figure out what it means!
Great list! Raven Cycle books are on my list too — how good was the second book?!
My TTT
I have yet to even read the sequel of Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book but I still plan on reading the other two. The book covers are gorgeous though.
My Top Ten
I didn’t know there was going to be a sequel to The 5th Wave. Now I feel even more inspired to read it soon! I forgot about The Forever Song, but I’m really looking forward to reading it. Great list!
Ooh the sequel to the 5th Wave has a title! I’m excited for that one. And I still haven’t started the Raven Boys series. So many great series to catch up on.
I had no idea that there was going to be a sequel to The 5th Wave. I better hurry up and read The 5th Wave! :D Great list!
