Top Ten Books on My Summer Reading List

Top Ten Tuesday is a book blogging prompt hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I don’t participate every week, but I join in when I find the prompt interesting. This week’s prompt is books on your summer reading list.

Trying to be realistic about my goals, here. I haven’t had nearly enough time to read lately, and I’ve been having difficulty finishing books. I don’t want to read books that are so absorbing I can’t put them down because then I’ll not get enough sleep. But I also need something interesting enough to have me keep reading in little snippets of time on my lunch break. It’s a balancing act. I’m hoping I turn a corner this summer and get back in the groove of reading at least two books a week.

The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien

Amazon| Goodreads

I haven’t read O’Brien’s previous series, but the concept for this one sounds great.

Beware the Wild by Natalie C. Parker

Amazon| Goodreads

Natalie’s a local author, and I’m doing a “YA for Grownups” panel with her and three other authors next week, so this is at the top of my list!

Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff

Fiendish| Goodreads

I have loved all of Brenna’s previous books, and this one sounds deliciously creepy.

Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers

Amazon| Goodreads

So many great series are coming to an end this year! Looking forward to Annith’s story.

Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis

Amazon| Goodreads

I’ll be honest, the concept and plot for this one sounds sort of crazy, but it’s gotten great reviews (even Kirkus!) and has lots of diversity (without being *about* diversity).

Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne

Amazon| Goodreads

I used to read Livia’s blog, years ago, before she got a book deal! This one sounds like lots of fun and I really hope I enjoy it.

Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews

Amazon | Goodreads

Kate and Curran, why are you so addictive?

Midnight Crossroads by Charlaine Harris

Amazon | Goodreads

That’s right, I’m going to give you another try, Charlaine Harris. We’ll see if I like your books without Sookie.

The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh

Amazon | Goodreads

Yes, I read adult literary fiction.

I have some more reading I hope to finish (ha!) this summer. With moving into a new house, moving the library back into the renovated building, and ALA, I’m not sure if this will happen, but….

I want to finish three YA series I’ve started: The Lynburg Legacy by Sarah Rees Brennan, The Curseworkers by Holly Black, and Blood of Eden by Julie Kawaga.

I’ve also got a list of graphic novels to read. It’s long.

What’s on your summer reading list? Are you looking forward to reading any of these books? If you’ve already read any of them let me know what you think!

  2. Such gorgeous covers. I love the look of Beware The Wild! I hope you enjoy these books this summer!

I'd love to hear your thoughts.
