Top Ten Books on my Spring 2014 TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a book blogging prompt hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I don’t participate every week, but I join in when I find the prompt interesting. This week’s prompt is your most anticipated reads of Spring 2014. I interpreted that as new releases/ARCs I’m excited to read and plan to finish before the middle of May. I’ll also be reading some backlist titles, but these are all new books coming out this spring or summer.

It’s so hard to narrow it down to just ten, because my to-be-read list is a bit out of control and I’m not moving through them as quickly as I’d like because of all the reading I have to do for the classes I’m taking this semester.

LGBTQ Young Adult Fiction

The youth services coordinator brought me these back from Public Library Association Conference. So excited!

Young Adult Contemporary

For some reason I’m not as drawn to fantasy/sci-fi young adult titles this season. I’ve started What I Thought Was True and am really enjoying it. I’m dying to read Annie Cardi’s The Chance You Won’t Return. Everyone has been raving about We Were Liars so I’m definitely keen to check that one out.

Adult Fiction

I read the first chapter of Landline already, and it has those insightful observations about people that are typical of Rainbow Rowell’s writing. I loved the premise of The Queen of the Tearling, a high fantasy adult title.

And of Course

Dreams of Gods and Monsters

I’m taking the release date off work to read this in one sitting! And very excited because although Laini Taylor’s book tour isn’t coming anywhere close this year, she’s going to be at ALA annual in Las Vegas this summer!

  1. Oh goodness, is Landline out this spring? How could I forget! I guess it’s out in July but if the publisher moves it up I’ll be more than happy to read it :) I am green with envy that you have LaCour’s latest. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it! Great YA Contemporary choices too… glad to hear you’re liking What I thought was True. Happy spring reading!

  2. I’m extremely excited for Landline as well. Rainbow Rowell has become a favorite author in such a quick time. I’m also not reading through my TBR list that quickly right now. I keep reading books that weren’t even on the list to begin with :)

I'd love to hear your thoughts.
